Carmaking brand “Ford” together with “ParkApp” adapted and implemented a ParkApp’s functionality for the Ford’s onboard SYNC 3 media system;


Ford owners will be able to search for a parking spot, plan routes and pay for parking using the onboard display;


In nearest future fully, automatic payments are expected for regulated commercial off-street parking space like airports, malls, private lots and garages with no cash, no paper and no drivers’ manual participation.


Ford and ParkApp announce the launch of the parking search and payment service integrated with the Ford SYNC3 media system.



Owners of the Ford Kuga, Ford Explorer and Ford Mondeo will be able to plan the route to municipal on-street parking lots, airports and to the shopping malls parkings on the 8-inch SYNC3 display and also to use ParkApp’s features with a voice control.


Thanks to unique algorithm developed in Russia, the Smart Parking platform will allow Ford cars owners to significantly reduce time of searching for parking and will turn payments for parking into fully automatic mode.


Studies show that drivers of megacities spend up to 20 minutes to find a parking spot each time, more over by circling around the parking searchers create so called parasite traffic which share in city jams is about 30%.


Fords debut project implemented with Russian startup is the next step for Ford towards creation of connected car service of the future. Smart parking service is designed to save time and money of drivers optimizing behind the wheel payments.



By connecting a smartphone with the installed ParkApp application to the SYNC 3 system, Ford owners will see the nearest parking on the system’s built-in display with an ability to plan a route to it **. After arriving at the street parking the driver is offered to pay for parking using an automatically generated SMS (charging the mobile account) or a bank card. If necessary, you can end the parking session before its scheduled time or extend of time is up. The application is controlled by a touch screen and / or voice commands.


On commercial, gate regulate parking like shopping malls and airports, in order to pay one should scan the bar code or manually enter the number printed on a parking card received upon the entrance. However, in the nearest future the payment process will be fully automated. The License Plate Recognition camera reads the license plate and after the IoT “ParkApp Pay” platform validates it’s user, the parking session automatically begins. The same sequence is to finish the parking session and charge the user’s credit card upon leaving. No need for driver to have a parking card or leave the car to make the payment.



This service will be available at airport parking lots, shopping malls, lots and garages as well as in the fast food drive-thru chains like McDonalds.


In the future, with an integrated ParkApp Pay IoT-platform ***, all the payments from the Ford car-board will be fully automatic.
